PATIENT EXPERIENCE

For Patients/Clients

IF YOU ARE ACTIVELY SHOWING SYMPTOMS OF COVID-19, THE FLU, OR THE COMMON COLD, PLEASE CALL TO CANCEL AND DO NOT COME TO YOUR APPOINTMENT.

• Prior to Arrival: Arrive wearing a face mask for community acupuncture - if you do not have access to one I will provide one for you. For private sessions the choice is yours for masking/unmasking. The treatment room is well ventilated and there will be an air filter on during session. 

• Wear freshly laundered clothing that can easily be moved to access points from slightly above the knees down and the entire arm. Please wear footwear that can easily slip on and off. 

• Please be well hydrated and have eaten at least a small meal or a snack before treatment.

• Use the restroom before arriving or use the bathroom down the hall (and wash hands) before treatment. 

• Upon Arrival: Upon arriving at the front door please enter the code you've been emailed/texted into key pin. Enter and walk down the hallway. My office is the first door on the left, suite 101. If you've lost track of or forgotten the door code, use the directory on the door to ring me and I will buzz you in manually (if you're early and I am in session with another patient you might need to wait as I won't have access to my phone in that moment). 

• Upon entering the clinic space please take your shoes off and place them on the shoe rack by the door. Have a seat in one of the chairs by the water station while you await to be welcomed into the treatment room. If you are here for community acupuncture then instead help yourself to an empty reclining chair. 

• Please silence or turn off your phones and refrain from loud conversation so at to help keep it a therapeutic environment.

• Treatments: All treatments are custom tailored to each individual. Community acupuncture will be needle only sessions. Private sessions might incorporate needles, electrical stimulation, stretching, soft tissue manipulation, guasha, cupping, kinesiotape, moxibustion, and/or educational content. Case by case, I will decide what is indicated for a most effective treatment. Consent is an ongoing conversation and I will never pressure any techniques upon you. 

• Upon Departure: Once the treatment has ended and you have re-dressed, come to my desk and I we will finish up any transaction that is outstanding.

• If you are "floaty" after session, this is a normal euphoric response that can occur with acupuncture as your body releases natural "happy hormones". Feel welcomed to have a seat in the waiting room and wait to feel a little more centered.
